OPEIU Local 40 President Dina Carlisle: “Diane is a true champion for workers’ rights and the middle class”
Sterling Heights, MI — Today, Democratic candidate for Michigan’s 10th Congressional District Diane Young announced that she received the endorsement of the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU) Local 40, which is a part of AFL-CIO. Young has long been supporting the nurses and radiology technologists of OPEIU as they fight for fair pay and to ensure patient safety. This endorsement builds on the growing momentum behind Young’s campaign, which has been the only campaign to announce dozens of key endorsements from local leaders such as State Senators Mallory McMorrow and Rosemary Bayer and has been featured in the Detroit News and Macomb Daily.
“We are excited to endorse Diane Young, who is a true champion for the health care workers our union represents and ensure every family receives accessible, equal, and safe medical treatment,” said Dina Carlisle, President of OPEIU Local 40. “Diane is a true champion for workers’ rights and the middle class and we’ll be proud to work with her in Congress.”
“I’m proud to stand side-by-side with the medical professionals of OPEIU Local 40 as they fight for better paying jobs, safer working conditions, and patient safety,” said Diane Young. “Our unwavering dedication to these crucial issues underscores the strength of union organizing and our commitment to building a society that values the well-being of all its members and ensures easy access to quality healthcare.”
The daughter of a secretary and a union carpenter, Diane Young grew up in Romeo where she was raised to work hard and always help others. Diane worked her way through school and became a financial planner. For over thirty years Diane has helped Michigan families like hers achieve their dreams. The business she started with a folding table and a phonebook has now helped hundreds of Michiganders buy homes, save for college, and plan for the future; as well as advise scores of small businesses on their growth and success. Diane now lives in Warren with her husband, in a family of proud union members. She still finds ways both big and small to help out our community.
